Well all, I have finally made the decision to sell AD02 and buy a H***a. Argh! I know, I know, but my bike is now my primary transport and I am wearying of not being able to find neutral, finding false neutrals, getting locked out of any gear - oh, and yes I do have the uprated clutch and it is carefully adjusted.
At red lights I am fed up of anxiously anticipating being embarrassed at the sound of that horrid little spit back followed by the engine ceasing to run.
It is not practical to avoid all dual carriageways, and motorways and 60 mph with little in reserve is just not comfortable. And although the brakes can be made to work well, they are never going to match that 4 disc ABS hatch just in front of you!
BUT this has been my favourite bike ever - a view shared by my wife - and ideal for the last 6 years of recreational riding through the Yorkshire Dales and Pennines. Hitchcocks' service is excellent, this message board has been a delight, although getting rather serious over the last year or two.
Should I ever come into money then a Classic 350 trail would be top of my shopping list.
So, good bye for the nonce, and thank you. I hope to be back soon.

Hi Dotty. Yes, having an Enfield as your only means of transportation can be tough. I seem to be spending masses of time keeping it roadworthy, and have spent a lot of money over the years too. I am also on the lookout for something perhaps more trustworthy and less demanding in maintenance, but will definitely hang on to the Enfield as a run about. It is not worth selling anyway as I'll only get a scrap metal price. Good luck with your new bike and sorry to see you go!

Enfield maintenance is just too high to use them as commuters unless the commute is very short, otherwise you spend too many evenings fixing things so you can go back to work in the morning. When I was commuting I had a pair of Hondas because even they are not imune to things failing. Must admit my Hondas are 30 years old and I was commuting 700 ks a week but even now I would with, confidence, after a pre trip check ride them to Brisbane without fear and Brisbane is 2000ks away

Sorry to see you go too, even though we don't know each other, as it were. I also have only one bike, which has given me almost as much grief as it has given me pleasure... but it was my choice to "dive in at the deep end" and the more that goes wrong, the more I have learned about classic bikes. Even though most of the other members of this forum have the luxury of at least one other bike (and maybe a vehicle with more wheels) I still enjoy being away from the herd, and as most of my journeys are commuting in London my Bullet 500 suits me fine.
When I am older (and richer) I hope to have a stable of at least 12 bikes, maybe an old Jeep, a huge truck for festivals and travelling, etc. But for the moment I'm happy. Good luck!

Hi Alan,
We have noticed over the last couple of months a drop in prices and up to 5 Bullets coming up for sale at the same time. No idea as to why. This doesn't include the number of UCE's on the market with a number seeming to turn over quickly, obviously new owners upgrading.

Hi NORM------- actually I was having a little "dig" at BEEZABRYAN but I know what you mean--------- a quick look on E-Bay shows an apparent increase of earlier Bullets up for grabs....
