Is that a foreign engine or one of those ridiculously backward GWR monstrosities Alan? Only I could n't help noticing the driving position is on the wrong side of the cab. Only GWR were stupid enough to do that in this country.

Nice one, chaps !!---------- A L }---- remember, I know where you live and might just send the lads from Didcot "Dahn-sarf" to er, "discuss" in greater detail !!! LoL----- Besides,it was ONLY the GWR that had Firemen who could be trusted to see a train into a station and also to give the "Right o' way" when departing........... (your turn now !!)..For those not in the know A L and myself share a railway background and interest, even though he's wrong (He-he)..

Alan you old luddite, here are one or two things that the GWR never got around to discovering, AC electric trains - Southern were using these in the 1920's, DC electric - 1930's, Welded boilers rather than rivets - 1940's, Cab signal repeaters rather than the ridiculous AWS system that is still used today and which cannot tell a danger from a caution signal, Bulleid Merchant Navy loco's, Electric cab lighting, lower quadrant signalzzzzzzzzzz, even Thomas the Tank was a LBSCR/Southern engine! The only thing the GWR invented was new and inventive ways and excuses to close former Southern lines (such as the Biddy and 'Combe branches)that were making the antiquated old western diseasels look even sillier! That's the view from a thoroughly modern and up to date southern cab. I'll give you a minute to shut down that filthy old diesel so you can hear yourself think of a suitable riposte - If such exists on the GWR!

Now, I'm an LNER man really, but I concede to the Western the best looking locos in the world. The Southern's got those quite classy 4-4-0s - schools, are they? - but C of T is a real beut and Castles, Kings, Manors etc only improve. Who is really bothered about Southern Electrics? Apart from, when was a kid, you could go to Whitstable on the double decker train.
