A 'ringing kit', frame and log book. If someone knows how to report it please do. Ebay 271194794824 Maybe it is a genuine sale, but this is how stolen bikes get a new identity.

I don't think there's anything illegal here.

Think its ok as far as i can tell... V5 is for a legal frame number, mot'd to boot..

Diesel engine on book but thats ok as you've probably got your own engine to fit anyway if you have a damaged frame at home could be just the thing... gwilly

It looks OK to me and Paypal is an option, thus buyer protected. I foolishly paid a low grade dealer masquerading as a private seller a large amount of cash by BACS to save him £200 in PayPal fees - and guess what - the bike was a mess and bore no relation to the description or pics or information presented. My only salvation in relation to this Stockport-based vendor was that he had listed 'returns accepted' and I got some modest compensation. He apparently does up classic cars, Aston Martins amongst them, whatever that means. So it happens to the best of us, which is a shame as ebay only works on the basis of integrity and trust. I like to think I would not possibly sell anything without full disclosure of the facts, but I was naïve and stupid enough to think others have the same moral framework. My man in Stockport sent me emails saying he would be happy to 'chat anytime, just call'. Which of course I duly did, many times, and he either did not take the call nor return any calls. His ebay rating is now suitably crushed.

midge oh you of little faith, ringing kit as if,i know the guy who,s selling it and theres no one i know more honest ,he,s put his diesel engine in a 1951 bullet frame for free T&t so his frame is surpless to requirements why are people so quick to judge others,i happen to know he,s a highbrow civil servant,if you want to see some ringing you should see the 1966 bullet i have in my shed, done in india shipped over here duly dated by the reoc and given a clean bill of health by the dvla and yes it was inspected so caviat emptor when buying a newly restored bullet from india especially if its of a classic nature ,although if the dvla can,t spot a ringer who can?atb paul.

Not sure why you think its illegal Midge. Its only illegal to tamper with the frame number, a frame and log book sale is perfectly legitimate.

I tried to buy some Ducati bits from a Phil Sutherland in Canberra. Didn't have a credit card facility or Paypal so muggins sends him cash. Nothing ever arrived and he couldn't give me a tracking number or any other proof that he sent it and nothing arrived. I finally realised he just stole my money and that I should from now on only deal with reputable firms such as our hosts. There are definitely some mongrels out there.

Maybe I over reacted, no offence meant if the seller is on here. It just seems wrong to me. I can see that a frame is useful for someone who has a bent bike, but for a hundred quid or so, Mr Pikey could lift one of our loved machines and end up with a legal bike valued between one and two thousand pounds. Actually, thinking more, has anyone got a transit van they can lend me?
