It`s true, he is a mining billionare, and he`s going to travel on it in steerage, because that`s where all the fun will be, just like in the movie. Norm has come off his Honda and has a leg broken in five places; operation today is all I know a present.

People have expressed mixed views about the new "Titanic"; is it in good taste? Will people really want to travel in steerage conditions? And will the limited facilities compete with larger, modern cruise ships?
We shall see. It won't be powered by coal-fired triple-expansion engines, that's for sure, so it will have more space available below decks than the original.
One thing I do know, is that if it ever makes it here to Guernsey it would make a fine sight anchored in the Russel off St Peter Port.

When you re-create something like this I wonder how far you can go really, and thus how much of the ship will be a re-creation at all. I mean obviously the engines won't be coal fired, presumably there'll be enough life boats (just in case!), what about toilets and showers in every cabin?, will the swimming pool be heated?, number of emergency exits? construction and design of life jackets, life belts, will there be a computer games room and what about wi-fi on board, etc etc. If all this is incorporated, and I guess much of will have to be, then will it really be a copy of the Titianic? Still having said all that I'd LOVE to go aboard and have a looksee. Cheers all. Tony.

Hi guys------------ for those interested in Engineering, she had 2-off, 4-cylinder, triple-expansion engines using direct drive, and 1-off, Parsons geared Turbine (Non-reversible).. The rear (aft) funnel was a dummy...Ash from the coal-fired boilers was dumped overboard by a chain-link conveyor system on a continuous basis once on the high seas.. A turn to Port was made by putting Starboard wheel on ( a hangover from the "helmsman" days)----------

I appreciate we're a bit off topic here chaps but blame Alan! Alan what does that last sentence mean - the bit about turning to port by putting starboard wheel on? Riggers.

You do it when riding a solo motorcycle, only it`s called counter-steering. A sidecar outfit has to be steered.
