What is the latest news about Watsonian Squire giving up importing Enfields at the beginning of this year. Their website says so but virtually every other Enfield site still shows them as the contact.

Shame as they seem to have been doing a good job. Having put a lot into it with the open days (great fun) it seems a bit odd. I can't believe that their posted reason (concentrating on sidecar production)is all there is to it.

Does anyone know anything more ?

Has anyone else taken it on yet ?

Triumph (UK) have just tweeted they're having preliminary talks. The brand would sit in their dealerships as a stand alone marque & allow them to have an entry level bike.

If that's the case, with Triumph's dominance of the retro twin market I can see an Enfiled twin appearing sooner or later. bring it on is what I say. Cheers. Tony.

SBM, I've just looked at the Triumph website and the page that shows their range of bikes. No push rod singles listed. Nothing on their news page either. I understood that Triumph have set up a dealership network which will only sell Triumphs. Indeed a friend of mine had his dealership cancelled and given to a well known car dealership chain on this decision. I don't see what added value taking on the Enfield distributorship would bring to Triumph's balance sheet frankly. If John Bloor set up an independent company to import and distribute bikes, then I could perhaps see some logic. Then I don't do twitting......it's the spawn of the devil.........so I may be a million miles off the mark. Strangely Enfield themselves are noticeable by their silence. That's usually a good way to frighten off potential new customers for sure.

Having had three Hinckley bonnies I cannot see this moving forward, there has been a lot of chat about a Triumph single made in Brazil and more likely, India. Adopting the Enfield range is so out of kilter with Triumph technology it has to be unbelievable, however there is a massive demand for an entry level single, and performance single that has Triumph technology behind it, I hope this moves forward as there would be a lot of interest in a light, Brit style single with the reliability of modern engineering.

Hi guys ---------- At the end of the day our hosts are running a business after all..So any expansion or new venture MUST either be profit generating or financially neutral..No one's going to take it on if it's a liability, are they ?? We don't want to see the Enfield equivalent of the Lehman Bros.do we now ?? However--- a stand-alone , Subsidiary Company based at arms length-- say in the next office space-- might work and fronted by a genial, talkative chap it could be called}---- GRUNDA IMPORTS, PLC Inc.---- That has a certain resonance about it, wouldn't you say ??
