Hi Paul,

Interesting topic!

Can't recall listening to any specific music during my own mechanical potterings, but perhaps a little adulteration of Free's "Alright Now" might apply after a valeting session on my 350 Classic:
"There she stood, in the street, shining (as opposed to "smiling") from her head to her feet".

I like to listen to a certain American talk radio show. It covers topics of spirituality, paranormal phenomenon, psychology, political issues, out of this world themes and much more. It's called Coast to Coast AM and is FANTASTIC. When I'm carrying out more involved tinkering jobs that require my full attention I normally listen to some psychedelic ambient music. Like the artist "Entheogenic" which you will find on YouTube if you're interested. Nothing wrong with some great prog rock though! Bring it on!

Radio 6 all the way for me. Lots of new stuff I would never hear anywhere else and plenty to keep us older ex punk types happy. Paul, don't go thinking FREE were prog rock, they were just a good rock band. Prog rock is more ELP, Jethro Tull, King Crimson and Yes. Personally I could not think of anything worse to have on whilst spannering the enfield than a keyboard solo by Rick Wakeman but each to his own.

I have a radio which is quite difficult to reach, I have to climb over stuff to get at it. It is tuned in to Radio 2, which I find ok most of the time, but I hate the way they force stuff on you - recently it was that Bruno Mars doing an impression of Sting and the Crazy Frog doing a duet and now they are forcing us to listen to someone called 'Bellowhead' singing about moving timber around. By the time I can reach the switch to knock the radio off for 5, I can go in the house for a cuppa. The best time for running engines is between 2 and 5 in the afternoon, I find, as it helps drown out Steve Wright and his know it all cronies, the rest of the day isn't too bad, though.
Cheers, Paul.

I have the radio on most times in the shed its always on Capital Gold or Absolute 60s. I've also got a small fridge with Milk a few cans of beer a kettle and a supply of Tea & Coffee in there. I Keep the radio on to keep me in check with the time otherwise its easy to lose track of time whilst in there. Not unknown for me to fall asleep in there and have the wife to come banging on the door at 3 am in the morning to wake me up like last Sunday morning :~)
