Birthday present and Happy hour! .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

My birthday is next week. I already have everything I could possibly need. The worst thing I know is getting presents I neither need nor want. So, I have tried for years to make my family and friends accept and understand that. And infact succeeded rather well too. So I don’t expect many birthday presents this year. However, my Model G is turning 60 this year and has a wish-list, so why not celebrate and buy it a decent birthday present? .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Ever since I got it the fork has been very stiff as the fork legs were rather worn and also had been mistreated (held in a vice etc). Since new fork parts were unavailable I had to do the best out of what I had, grinding and polishing the old fork legs etc.. It has sort of worked for 11 years, but the ride has been bumpy. However, not long ago I found that Hitchcocks can now supply brand new fork legs for the Model G! Investigating further I also discovered that the valve lifter, which has been an unobtainable part for years, now is in stock again! (I broke my valve lifter years ago, but fortunately it was possible to hard solder it. Still, I want a spare.) Wow! The Model G is getting older and older, but spare part availability better and better. It’s almost possible to build a brand new Model G from spare parts from Hitchcocks, I think..... Almost..... It’s amazing and the best of two worlds: Having a 60 years old motorcycle and beeing able to order every spare part I need from the most reliable and fastest supplier ever, via Internet sitting on my desk at home. .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

And to top it all, Hitchcocks announced a 10 % discount on all orders placed during the weekend! So I started in the “Parts books online” section and worked my way throug the “Accessory catalogue” before checking out. The order confirmation consists of 43 part numbers (and 2 or 4 pieces of many of them)..... So now every part I have been looking for for years is on the way to my garage, to be fitted to the G before the opening of this year’s motorcycle season. I’m a very happy Royal Enfield owner! .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Thank you, Hitchcock! .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

I just made a few pictures of the G available here: .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- https://foto.no/cgi-bin/bilder/vis_bilde.cgi?id=684876 .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- This is before fitting the goodies just ordered. Most of those parts are internal parts, so the appearance will not change much, if at all. .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- regards, Anders F. R.
