I thought when I saw this in the catalogue that it was a bit OTT but I had't thought of an outfit. I would think it would make quite a difference to handling with a chair on. Y

Hi Grunda 12, i remember these from some years back, but looking at the pictures - would the brace fit a classic with the casquette/steel fork tube covers without modifications?

neddy the answer is no the steel fork covers would conflict with the brace,my mate has gaitors and we had to cut them down and dispose with the bottom clips, the fork brace looks well with rubber dust covers with stanshions exposed ,although i would advise having the stanshions re /hard chromed before hand as i,m not too sure how long exposed indian chrome would last in the elements, philpots are the men.atb paul.

AH!! well now, here's the rub----on forums such as this it's difficult to be balanced and able to give some "negative" as well as "positive" reviews..because it could border on the edge of libel if the negatives outweigh the positives.... I have purchased 4 expensive items from the Hitchcocks catalogue in the last 9 months ALL of which were sub-standard OR gave cause for concern to the point of returning them (In person in one case )for rectification OR refund of monies spent..... These have been discussed, solutions reached, and I'm not going to rake over the coals by giving details etc..I've seen one forum for example where a particular Model Engineering Company was using extremely questionable fiscal practices -- along with time wasting techniques--- ignoring customer enquiries etc. and with so many people posting negative views that the publisher of the forum felt threatened of a possible libel suit and wiped the whole thread !! So you end up with a lop-sided, good-only view as it were because of fear of what might happen..... Besides---- am I going to( or can I on this forum) Bite the hand that "feeds" me, as it were ??

I fitted one of these to my 612 Cafe Racer about a year ago. Like you Grunda, it fitted straight on. Handling has never been a major problem on my bike and I was doubtful that I would notice much, but this did improved things especially at higher speeds and braking.

It's a good thing the product review particularly when it come unsolicited. I've noticed Mr H has wisely used some of the ringing endorsements of products in his fine catalogue of recent. What I would love to read is some reviews from you chaps that have purchased the more expensive items and the effects of same. For instance the 612 on the cover of the catalogue is a thing of genuine beauty but is a beast or a kitten does it vibrate like a sex toy or start (or not) like a Velocette? Also the big bore kits and the long stroke cranks. Must stop now hands to sweaty to type with......
