ordered the new part to cure gearbox casing flex on my 4 speed Friday and got it Saturday morning, cant beat that for good service, thank you Hitchcocks....guess it wont get fitted until after christmas, cant wait to feel the new improved perfect gear change and non stalling at the lights.

Bertie, and if that doesn't completely solve the problem file/grind 3mm out of the clutch perch so the you can get around 20mm cable travel. The 2 combined together should give you a good clutch

We need to make a concerted effort to find a clutch lever that fits, one that doesn't step in because you can then gain another 3mm of cable travel. There is one off a Japper out there that will do the job, once we find it need to let everybody know and clutch problems will no longer be a problem

I've seen the expression "clutch perch" before but I have no idea what it is! It's not an expression I've ever come across here in manuals or the bike press or literature. Could Norm or someone explain please?!

Mark, clutch perch clamps on the handelbar and clutch lever is mounted on it, can't think of a better way to decsribe it

Hi guys---------- just doing a quick scan on the old 'puter before attacking the Turkey dinner !! (It's a once-a-year job, but someone has to show them how it's done---- so I volunteered loL !!)...Regarding the Jappo clutch lever--well, "Currently" there's a lot of "ebb & flow" on this thread, so guess you'll have to keep "Fishing" around until you "net" one ??....It should improve the "FINish" and "hook" others interest as well.... ------technically a lever will pivot about a fixed point known as the fulcum --- take a look at this }------ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fulcrum ------- or sometimes it's point-of-purchase , which can be shortened to "Purch" (or, with a little local dialect = perch).

Now I see! It will always be the clutch lever clamp to me but I see the reasoning. "Purchase" doesn't seem quite precise enough and in any case duplicates the mechanical meaning of lever. However, as long as we understand each others' lingo we'll be fine! Off for Christmas Dinner down the pub shortly ( just for a few locals but you know how that's likely to go...) so Happy Christmas to you all!

Just googling clutch levers and perch bobs up again so the spelling I'm not sure of but it seems to crop up as being spelt perch. No idea as to where it comes from except that it grips around the handelbar in a similar manner that a bird perches on a branch. Best I can come up with
