Hi guys, what does anyone recomend using to bring up the alloy engine casings to a mirror finish on my Electra EFI please. Ive used all sorts of metal finishs, polishs etc, but they dont seem to shine that much. Thanks, phil

Autosol is probably still hard to beat.  Needs a bit of elbow grease right enough, and shouldn't be used on laquered casings.

Don't think any of the Enfield casings are laquered are they??

Hi Alex, no none of the casings have laquer on them. Ive been using autosol but it dosnt seem to bring them up real shiny, its like theyve got a haze on them

I have found that Autosol brings them up reasonably shiny and is a good 'workhorse', and then for the finishing touch I use "Peek" which is a finer polish with smaller particles, the finish produced by Peek is not only "shinier" it also seems to last a good two or three weeks at full shiny-ness before it starts going dull, Autosol starts going dull in two or three days. With either of these polishes they leave a bit of residue on the surface which can look hazy, it need buffing off with a really clean dry cloth to get the best finish.

duraglit is good for shining although i would use solvol on very fine wet & dry paper that gets em to shine ,although i don,t bother too much with cosmetics its the riding part i like!!!

Phil, you can polish all day with all sorts of compounds, however if you want the finish you describe then forstly get them polished by a polisher. Then the Solvol or other compound will keep the shine for you. It is worth the investment if you want the "mirror" finish. Worked beautifully on my Thruxton.
