hi one & all i just thought that i,d run this by you all..a couple of weeks ago i bought our hosts electra x conrod /bearing conversion price then £275 +vat & postage also i bought several other items totalling over £700 imagine my suprise when browsing our hosts on line catologue today 3rd december to find a price increase of £15 +vat on the above said conrod bearing kit £15 !!!!! i know that prices go up but this is a massive price hike!!considering that they probably are from the same stock as i bought from !!they don,t call this country rip off britain for nothing, our host may hold the largest stock of enfield parts this side of india and give the best service that parcelforce can deliver ,yes its good old royal mail doing the delivery (uk) ,but when i asked for reoc discount earlier this year i was told that to offer discount, prices would have to rise ,well i dare not look at the other items i bought ,but as they say in the ad go compare, but on another note at the reoc agm we were told that foriegn members would have to pay an extra £15 towards membership renewal as the club were loosing out on posting their magazines and making a loss, it was met by horror!!as i say call me lucky.atb paul.

Hello LUCKY !!---------- Paul, you did say to call you that...I currently live on an Occupational Pension (not the State one yet) and payment increases used to be linked to the RPI....Recently, HM Gov.found a different Index that increased at a LESSER rate---so we are now linked to that instead....So each subsequent year my Pensions' BUYING power is gradually reducing equal to that difference.....And that after a lifetime of service to the State as well....Lucky me !!...But I can still afford to run a pair of Classic 500s'----Lucky me !!......... I'm long-term divorced and my current "partner" doesn't want to get married----Lucky me !!!On my Mothers' side our family has a history of longevity--she is 97 and still going strong!!--- that gives me another 35 years approx = lucky me!! And I get to meet good folk such as yourself on this forum , yes--Lucky me.

£15 increase on £275 = 5.45% increase - you really think that's a "massive price hike" ?..Ah well, another chance to take a swipe at our hosts.....You should try buying parts for makes of bikes other than Enfield. I have on my desk a 2.1/2-year old parts price list from a well-known supplier of Triumph & BSA parts - checking on line today I find some of their prices have increased by up to 50%.........You can call me lucky anytime. (Alan R, that's two of us!)

hi john ,youve done your figures did you include the extra vat ?anyway where i come from £15 is a lot of money !!if you say it quickly its not much and as for having a swipe at our hosts i think my critcism is well above board ,i mentioned only 1 price increase but i,m sure the rest of what i purchased in november will also have gone up! don,t quote other makes of bikes to me i,ve run japs etc ,enfields are cheap in comparison ,i know we get good service etc but its at a cost i must admit that i use suppliers in india if i can wait 7 days to buy the same genuine spares much cheaper!! so like it or lump it ,hitchcocks do great work in the enfield community but lets see if anymore of the appreciation society can chip in, remember i spent over £700 inc vat & carriage with them in november how much have you spent recently john? atb paul.

i have made a slight error i said that i spent £700 actually it was £800 inc vat & carriage so even if i swipe i still spend the total rise in prices on the stuff i bought that is still available is £25 +vat i,m glad i got it that bit cheaper last month thats the point of this thread being lucky!!on another note i was very lucky today i got a brand new pair of bike boots for £5 when will this lucky streak end ,anyway atb paul.not wanting to be offensive in any way.

No, I didn't include the VAT; Hitchcocks are not responsible for that, but merely collect it on behalf of HM Government. And yes, £15 is still a lot of money where I come from, too - but £800 is an awful lot more........I think you are indeed a lucky so-and-so to (apparently) afford to spend that amount of money on one parts order. That's probably more than the total I've spent on my 2 Enfields together - in the past ten years!!
My own personal gripe with distance buying is having to pay VAT on postage.........
