My 6 year old Electra X with 5000 miles has an exhaust wrap and black fishtail silencer, re-jetted as necessary, runs and sounds really well, but after several miles and the engine is really hot, when I meet traffic and have to stop and start at lights and tailbacks the clutch starts to drag and changing up to 2nd gear needs some force. It seems heat related, when stopping and starting but runs great when on the move even at high speed. I must just add, in my opinion, the Electra X is a great bike to own and a joy to ride, the problem I have just stated has only just started

Adjustment is so fine on these , 5 speeds are better than 4 speeds but it is a combination of the gearbox expanding at a greater rate that the pushrod combined with a pressure plate that is too thin that combined with the spring position allows it to distort and not lift cleanly from the plates and combine this with limited initial lift and the clutch will drag. Apart from this they are fine

Sorry, I should have added, check that the cable isn't starting to fail as well, both ends with the 5 speed
