well chaps the deal is done grunda 12 has gone over the hill to lancashire meanwhile in sunny south yorks the devil voodooo bugger electra is now standing in my garage,i,ve stripped the bike down to a rolling chassis ,just the engine to remove although thats probably ready for the scrap bin, along with the wiring loom, have got tomeasure up for the 1000cc diesel lump, due to the left hand change arrangment,im not ultimately sure if i can shoehorn it in ,so it may have to be another 406 lump, well its cheaper at 300 quid ,(1000cc 1100 quid)onwards and upwards got to get this on the road asap,i will return with more news later,p.s i,ve closed my facebook account if any west riding types wondered where i,d gone !atb paul

Hi Paul, no keep it l/h change, this is the modern way and how the 5 speed box was designed.
Please also try your very best to install the 1000 motor - I am very very interested in a 5 speed l/h change diesel Bullet with more power than the usual 10-15 hp.
What motor is it
You may not want to scrap the Electra motor Paul, as they are quite scarce there is probably a good market for it.
Best of luck, looking forward to hearing about the build.

Paul, if you can fit the diesel you can convert the gearbox change using the existing shaft. you then of course need to buy a left hand brake pedal.

One of our Club members has just fitted a 5 speed belt drive to his race 612 and he wanted to retain the left shift so he used some marine cable to get rid of the gearbox crossover shaft. He tried to explain it in detail to me as to how he had done it but till I have a look I can't be sure

hi ,chris, stu & norm ,chris i have closed facebook account because it stopped working, stu very interesting to hear that electra bits are scarce,i have engine ,carb, wiring loom ,coil, all generator cdi coil, etc etc it will all probably go on ebay (although i don,t like ebay)i have got the dimensions for the diesel motor so i will have to get my tape measure out,hi norm ,ive been up early couldn,t sleep (4am)so the engines now removed from the frame ,just need to take the gearbox off the back,am thinking of fitting classic tool boxes as the electra panels are not to my liking atb paul.

Paul,I just bolted the toolboxes onto the existing brackets on the Electra. Have to drill new holes and they probably stick out about an extra 15mm but you can't notice it. I think I had to make a couple of brackets for the front top of the boxes.
