I'm in the habit of shopping around for my insurance. For the past few years, I've been using comparison websites to get the best deal. I've saved a fair chunk of cash when insuring my car, but insurance for my Enfield is a whole different ball game. Normally, you input your Registration number and the details appear. So, I input my Registration number and it comes back "Invalid Registration". With a little detective work, I find that I haven't ticked the Import box. So I tick it and another dialogue box appears with "Select Model" on it. Here's the kicker. According to the Insurance database, the 500 Lightning doesn't exist! The 535 is there, but not the 500. Has anyone else experienced insurance diffuculties?

Barry. Maybe get the best comparison quote for a 535, you can tick the box to say you haven't bought it yet. Then give the company with the best quote a ring and see what they come up with for your 500.

That's an interesting idea Pete. I'll have to give that a go.

If you give the comparison site your phone number you will get junk calls for months afterwards, you have been warned...

Hmmm. Considering I've been using comparision sites for a couple of years now and never recieved a junk call, I think that Pete is onto something.

I use comparison sites for my bikes and cars. I never have any problems with telephnone sales calls as a result. Perhaps I am just lucky. As for insurance having gone through the exercise of cross checking I generally find that I need then only to call Peter James Insurance for bike insurance and they always come out cheaper than all of the other well known companies and comparisons. Indeed my Insurance for my Triumph Thruxton is actually £3 dearer than last year (Peter James v Peter James) and £93 cheaper that CN, Footman James and Bennets. Same applies for my classics. HTH.
