Why wouldn't they put something in the ammeter hole though? Even if it was a clock styled to look like a smiths ammeter.

I have visions of there being a massive warehouse somewhere in Channai piled to the rafters with blank casquette castings dating back to the mid 70's...

That's where the tripper goes, should you specify one in the options. The top of the range ones have it already installed.

I quite like it, although I wonder at the current progressive "design ethos".

"Let's take something simple, and make it complicated".

I think legislation has forced some of the changes, but making the bike more "modern" probably makes it more appealing to a wider "retro" seeking customer base.

I won't be buying one though; my iron barrelled 350 suits me better and I reckon it will easily outrun one of these.
