Anyone tried 50% household ammonia solution as a general purpose spray cleaner? It cheap and works well on chrome, alloys, and paintwork. Just use in well ventilated situations , with usual PPE..

Nope. There are far more pleasant and less personally hazardous things to use.

Lots of biodegradable cleaner/degreasers out there these days. Muc off works pretty well.

I think there is a good chance ammonia would not play well with aluminium.

My son has his own business, specialising in vehicle detailing products (he only sells his own branded products). I use his pre-wash which works very well on the bike. I’ve also used his snow foam with excellent results. His latest venture is manufacturing his own waxes (in my utility room!) which he used on the petrol tank a couple of days ago with great success.

Bathroom mousse.

Shifts dead insects off fairings too.

And that Elbow Grease stuff out of the pound shop.

If it's safe to use on stuff that's going in your gob, or in areas that your naked nether regions are exposed, then my theory is it'll be ok on my bikes.
