Nothing wrong with the bikes, different tyres would have helped :)

They all look like they're having fun anyway.

A lesson in how to dig holes on a soft surface!

Two faults; firstly the wrong tyres. Knobblies needed. Secondly, wrong technique. I’d have been up on the footrests and using more speed to carry the bike up.

I’d probably fall off, but with a lot more style :D

Yeah, I'd have let my ambitions outstrip my abilities and binned it at some point there.

I suppose that's kind of what makes a sucessful trials bike. If you're not scared to drop it, you're not scared to push your personal envelope. It's exactly why it's not getting an alloy trials tank (unless I find one that's super cheap and looks like a silver passion-fruit).

Only one way to deal with soft sand.

Get back on the bike, loosen your arms and punch it.
Easier said than done sometimes.

Went on three enduro/well, off road holidays to Portugal and the leader took us to, what he called, the hill of death. A steep sand hill. Got it on my second attempt, it wasn’t pretty!

This was one of those trips in May. The sand holiday was later and bone dry.
