Has anyone ever insured a bike that it made up of a standard frame / running gear but has a different engine in it?

It is registered and the logbook shows it as being the original model that the frame says it is.

How difficult are bikes like these to insure? - best bloke to ask it probably Alan Millyard !!

Thanks

A lot of people would just ignore the engine change but I couldn't possibly advise you to do that🙄
It shouldn't be a problem if the engine is of the same type and capacity.

Good point. The engine it was designed for or a totally different one?

If it's the engine it was designed for, just register the change with the DVLA. They will either want a receipt for the engine showing the engine number or a short letter on headed paper from a motorcycle garage stating frame and registration number x is fitted with engine number y. Nothing to declare to the insurance because the bike is standard.

if it's a totaly different engine, you'll need a specialist policy if you want to be fully covered.

Frame and Engine are from the same manufacturer.

The engine is 45cc larger than the one that was originally fitted.

I would like to be appropriately covered, so guessing specialist insurer ?

My anglo-indian RE bitsas are all insured with Carole Nash, two of them were 350 Bullets and are now 500, one was a 700 twin and is now a 500. Just make sure you explain ALL the modifications. Depending on the insurer and how much as been done it might load the premiums a bit.

A 45cc capacity hike, you say, but what capacity was the original engine?

A.

Interesting all I can think of is Suzuki T350 or a Kawasaki 305 I can't think of anything else that was 305cc from the factory
