I have Just received Two New log Books -V5C s for Both me Bullets I did not ask for them so was surprised. Apparently according to a note with them it says there sending out mew ones in red colour because a lot of the original blank blue ones have been stolen from the DVLA so you may get a new one in the post soon.

P/s I should have said this is a rolling program and will go on till the end of November 2012 so if you don't get them straight away don't worry they will get round to you.

Hi thanks I did not realise its the first I knew about it that There now changing all of them though because originally the plan was to just issue them on New Vehicles and when Change of ownership or Address occurs. But now they have decided to change everyone's without even sending in old ones so it was just reminder in case someone is not expecting it too arrive.

As per mm, yes, they've been doing this for ths past couple of years, all but one of mine is the new format now, .they seem to be going through vehicle data rather than owner data as mine have been replaced one by one

Don't just file them without checking the details. This is DVLA we're talking about!!

On the new red ones there is no option to scrap any vehicle. Maybe not such a problem for us Enfield owners, but it seems it stops anyone not licensed to part out their car or bike at the end of its life.

You're right Midge - big brother strikes again. Now you can't break your own property up and sell the bits - unbelievable.

y'know, thats something I never looked at, I checked the vehicle details and such but wow.
The cheeky buggers, especially given that you have no option to use the old ones once these are replaced, so what happens if you permanently break a vehicle for parts then?

BUT - looking into this a bit more - the scrapping regulations apply to cars, no mention of bikes. There are people who have broken up their bikes and just informed DVLA. They have received the usual letter saying they are no longer responsible for the vehicle. Thinking about it, there is a lot of nasty stuff in a car - much more than a bike - so the rules might make some sort of sense.
