.....or an RPG/Bazooka/LAWS/Panzerfaust etc etc.

Good point about indicators Adam. I see many bikes merrily riding for miles with the indicator flashing and sorry but it's your own fault if this confuses other road users. I have them fitted to all my bikes (well, the ones with indicators anyway)

A Maplins FK84F Buzzer (£3.99) is certainly worth the money and with 103dB at 1m it's certainly loud enough to warn inattentive pedestrians

anyway getting back on topic...

KTM is recalling models in its Adventure range over a potential brake problem.

The firm says a potential short-circuit of the ABS modulator could in rare cases lead to brake failure.

I'll just check my info-babble chart, (used to be good for British rail announcements too!)... "could in rare cases"

'churn-churn-churn...'

comes out as "will most likely" Better watch then KTM's for the moment then.

Hi bigest hate country road nice and twisty doing the 90kph limit and out of nowhere a jap crotch rocket passes me trying to break land speed record and nearly clip me.
Really cant see the point of a road bike that can do in excess of 200klm per hour, if you buy one of these your not going to stick to the speed limits, on the track ok on public roads ban them or tax em hard and make them do a special license. Never get booked on your enfield unless for obstruction or loitering.

Interesting comment from Scotty - not all bikers are good bikers then. UK stats are that 51% of all motorcycle KSI (killed or seriously injured) accidents are 'single vehicle'; in other words the arsehole has ridden straight to the scene of the accident without the help of any intervening (here insert German car you most hate). They don't like to be told this at the bar on club nights, by the way . . .

Usually it's time that mellows.

Young guy, first powerful bike, possibly not good at speed limits. Hopefully, road sense and seeing the results of what happens around you and a few youtube crash vids will eventually allow you to see sensible over speed.

Yes, I have exceeded the speed limit a few times on my bikes, but only for short periods in areas with good visibility and hopefully a low risk to myself and others. This was mainly with new bikes just to see how fast they could go. I have never done this with my RE's as the engines don't work in the same way and would break, but... I did get 82MPH out of Thunderbolt, my EFI for about 10 seconds on the bypass! (but only the once!

Actually all to frequently it is "born again" bikers who are too proud/stupid to take a refresher course after years/decades away from motorcycling who all to frequently appear in the no other vehicle deaths/serious injury statistics....... They buy a plastic missile, that could probably do a 115mph lap of the Isle of Man TT course if ridden by an expert rider, but they don't have the skill to handle the performance....As a police accident investigator said to me:- "all to often the bike was capable of going around the corner at the speed the accident happened but the rider wasn't."

An odd selection of speeds there Scotty. Fortunately in England there are no speed limits of 55.9 mph or 124.2mph either. Is a vehicle capable of 124.1 mph less likely to be speeding? It has been said many times by many eejits that no vehicle needs to be capable of doing more than 70mph. My favoured method of getting idiots off the road is regular driving/riding tests, far more rigorous than the waste of time that is the present driving test, perhaps every 5 years or less. As someone who has never had even a knock in a busy carpark, never been pulled for a motoring offence, and passed both IAM tests for bikes and cars, I considered myself a reasonable driver. Until I trained as a driving instructor and had to learn how to drive correctly. It is worth noting too that none of the main driving organisations including plods agree 100% on what is 'correct'.
