Its you baby boomers that have driven the prices of 50 year old bikes up ridiculously high as you are prepared to pay anything to recapture your youth. Once you all die off the the bottom will fall out of the market and the prices of old bikes will drop.

Waz,
You can't live in hope for the rest of your life, by the time we die off the world population will have increased significantly and your hope of a glut of old English bikes is just a dream because there will always be collectors who pay what you think is stupid prices for bikes 50 plus years old. Remember by the time we die off they could be heading to 70 plus years old so prices will increase as the years pass

It said on the news this morning that in 50 years time people might have the option of living forever. Imagine that - an Everlasting Waz.

I have to agree with others here - I think the recent UK prices of the new Enfields have been too high.

I do not agree that performance and reliability have improved much at all. Certainly not performance!! (except braking - Disc vs Drum)

I think lower price could, and should be reached. (Assuming that RE give a crap about their UK market?)

the reliability of the new efi is very good in my experience,i know a guy who does shed loads of miles on his efi with a sidecar attached the only problems have been the same as you could get with anyother bike as for making bikes cheaper when did that ever happen not in my 30 , years of riding infact in 1983 suzuki indicators were £15 each i know as i did a few, talking of price look at the cost of a new honda 125loads of pastic & cheapness ,i think the entry model enfield at little over 4k not too bad also its horse for courses,as economy is always tied into performance ,i know these efi,s will do 120 miles per gallon when ridden at 50mph what more could anyone want?cheap bikes new there aren,t any !atb paul

Waz,
There is another problem you haven't thought through on this matter, once we all die off and all these old Brit bikes are for your picking, who is going to keep them running for you they will be static displays in your shed
