Hi, commuting on my trailblazer one morning this guy ran up to me at the lights and demanded to know, "why do you have an Indian badge on your meteorsupermeteormeteorminorconstellation? " I asked him if he was an expert in enfields? To which he replied "Yes" As I engaged first I said "Then you already know the answer" and rode away. Vince

I'm having to hold up my hand a bit here (Although I don't regard this as a confession). I often plough through the likes of Ebay at the bikes for sale. There's nothing I enjoy more than 'picking fleas' on the restored machines on offer. As for the ratty runners. I'm just glad that they still exist.

This is a reason I don't attend such events, I have met real versions of this. My Triumph Bonneville was a total anorak magnet. To me a brake pedal can only be wrong if it doesn't cause the brake to come on or off on demand. OWNERS clubs I avoid, RIDERS get togethers fit me better.

Hi guys------am I glad to be back amongst like-minded riders !!-----This subject matter is an old chestnut that rears it's head in all walks of life and, as demon-strated here , still gets the various responses that it deserves.........Here's two from my annals}---- A few years ago whilst calling in at Llangollen the lads and myself found ourselves parked-up in that little transport museum just down the road........I was on my 2000 ish Indian 500 Bullet in gloss black, gold lining, fork gaiters, trials handlebars, panniers with rear rack and the pre-requisite oil leaks etc....My mates were on OE BSA, Triumph, Ariel etc....We were parked in a line with me at the far end....An "Enthusiast" walked slowly along spouting out "Knowledge" to all and sundry ---- then he arrived at mine..I was just taking my helmet off so fortunately had my hands full...He took one look and, in a voice reminiscent of a spoilt brat schoolboy said}--"Oh, that's cheating!!" He wouldn't even engage in conversation with me , having done so with the others, but turned quickly on his heels and marched primly away, head held high !!-------- No.2}---I used to be a volunteer at the Severn Valley Railway and at the same time was involved with a small group of friends building a 5" gauge live-steam model of one of our locomotives ie]--7819 Hinton Manor' ( Anyone here from the MECH forum ?? ).... We were displaying it at the old Bingley Halls ME Show when along comes "Mr.Great Western" himself with a couple of simpering sycophants in support....He places himself firmly at front and centre and -- with hands on hips ---began his visual inspection and critique..."Ah-ha!!" he eventually exclaimed having at last found a "Fault"..."That item was never fitted by Swindon and is WRONG !!".........In a voice loud enough for all to hear I politely explained to "Sir" how this is a 5" gauge replica of the loco AS IT IS TO-DAY and that we 3 lads made and fitted that particular item only last week.........So was CORRECT !!----- Collapse of stout party who quickly departed with his Phants being Sickly in support !! ( I was lying through my teeth but he didn't know that---did he ?? )
