I was looking for your post on that Steve. Where was it? MX5 Parts is to my son what Hitchcocks is to us. He has a G reg Mk1 money sink which is as much fun to drive as a Bullet. We had a great trip in it around Skye and the west coast of Scotland as my retirement treat a few years ago. Last couple of days with a broken rear suspension link. But so much fun. Applecross!! That horn currently out of stock but a good thought. Glad to read if your continuing enjoyment of your very pretty bike.

Morning Geoff the post was under new horn problems, my grandson has an MX5 not sure what model but it's the one with pop up headlights if that's any help and as you say it's a money pit spent a small fortune on it in the last year, fortunately he's a mechanic so it's only parts and his time and frustration, hope you soon get your bike sorted soon don't want to miss the summer. By the way like your dust caps 😈

Might be a bit late now, but regarding the insurance, would it be easier to have it written off, take the cash, and buy the bike back off them for pennies? Then you can repair it yourself at leisure.

Yes ed.lazda that's basically what's happening. I'm having the bike back with a reduced cash payment. Not bad figures - I won't be out of pocket on parts and even labour. It's a Category C write off which means it has no frame damage and may be repaired but the write off is recorded which will make selling it difficult. But I intended to keep the bike forever anyway. Also an insurer can insist on qualified mechanic doing the repair with independent inspection after. No prob with that. Just waiting for some encouraging noises my insurers have told me verbally to appear on paper before ordering the bits. I bought the bike new in 2009 and am rather attached to it. I have thought long and hard about taking the full cash payment and putting it towards a new version 500, but it's not quite the same. Another possibility is to find a good low mileage 4 speed 350 classic and use the broken one as a source of known low mileage (3073 km) well maintained spares when necessary. No final decision yet, but a noisy horn will be part of it! Possibly not Scalyback's solution, but thanks for the suggestion.

Just an update. My bike is back with me (with new damage to tank, seat and a broken front brake lever, dirty and greasy and has had a beverage spilled on it - thanks for the loving care BLD) and I've cleaned it thoroughly and cleared a lot of the damaged parts away. Swapping fork legs complete and refitting a new front wheel and mudguard looks pretty straightforward as long as the stanchions turn OK. A useful thread from Dan on that - I shall be buying MrH's t-bar hex stanchion turner rather than muck about with footrest studs etc. £14 a drop in the ocean! I'm hoping the insurers will let me do the work myself. Still waiting for written confirmation of that, but if not it won't be too much in arm and leg labour charges to have it done by my local Enfield dealer EC Bates in Dartford, who have been very helpful on this as on previous Suzuki related occasions. Oh and I haven't had the cheque yet, but it'll cover labour if necessary. I'm not after making a profit. The parts order will be with you MrH as soon as the cheque's through the letter box! Can't wait!

My Tbird has 2 tone hooters fitted, the loom has 2 leads with connectors, but only the small 1 worked until I had a fiddle with the large 1, and oh boy are they LOUD!
If Carlesberg made hooter's they are probably on my bike, the loudest I've ever had on any bike!
