Now then Paul, I DO know because I have ridden a Charnwood Classics diesel Enfield, and I liked it. This was about 6 years ago and I think the later engines are better - so much so that I keep looking at Summers website and wondering if I should have one - or one of Price Parts?
Please bring your diesel bike Paul, I'd love to discuss it with you!
All the best, Stu.

hi stu,the diesel is a marmite thing glad to here that you have tried 1,mine is a homebuilt machine done very cheaply as i can,t justifie the exspence of a h price jobby ,mine was converted by myself in 2 weeks last summer,i,ve done 5000 miles on it since, theres a good possibility i may come to the gathering on it although my newly painted 350 petrol is begging to be ridden ,with its new forks and single seat, anyway back to the diesel i,m looking at the larger 465 engine that makes 13bhp out of interest although i really like the 406,atb paul.

Paul, yes it's the 465cc 13bhp deisel version that interested me, but I would also be interested in a larger version....or even a deisel V twin??
Re MM's gathering I have just invited my mate Steve who has a Norton Interstate 850 as his everyday commuter bike along - hope he can make it.
If so it is Bullet, Bros and Commando all coming from various parts of Leicestershire!

hi stu ,i,ve seen a Ponsun v twin engine its like 2 yanmar top ends at the diesel rally earlier in the year it was fitted in a 1340 type harley frame the owner was a discruntled harley owner, the 465cc engine at 59 cc ,s larger and 3hp more than mine with the correct gearing should do a cruising speed of 60 + although me being careful with my money i,ll stick with the 406 although if my petrol engine eventually dies due to too much thrash and is B.E.R beyond economical repair the 465 or the 1000cc 20hp twin will make an appearence although the twin costs £1000 + vat atb paul. back at the top again!

For the ultimate diesel Enfield, I have a couple of Royal Enfield horizontal diesel twin engines, but it would be a bit of a squeeze - certainly a challenge, think enormous BMW bike engine running on derv - anyone up for it? You're back at the top too.
Paul.

Diesel or petrol Enfields are all welcome at MadMikes Gathering on Sunday 9th September. I have ordered fine weather and currently the forecasters are suggesting that my request is being granted. Please come and join us, and for goodness sake seek out MadMike and make yourself known to me. It is always good to put faces to names.
