Agreed it cam be a bit the same on the October one but Aprils is usually different, and you wouldn't need to use them M1 at all if you went via matlock town center, from Worksop, A619- A61 - A67 in Chesterfield -A673 into Matlock, A615 onto the A6 join the B5036 at cromford then follow that ashbourne then the A515 to sudbury, up 1 junction on the A50 to uttoxeter then the A518 right to the showground 64.3 miles from the center of worksop but we could arrange another route or destination.

S45, Thanks very much for the alternative route but knowing the area quite well (I used to work near Uttoxeter) it would be a two hour ride each way..... A bit too far for me on the little Enfield. ;-)

I've been to the shows at both ends of the year; it used to be a regular outing for myself and another group of biking friends. If I was to go it would definitely be by car, which rather defeats the point of a Derbyshire bike ride.

I'll wait for some thing a bit nearer. :-)

No Worries, I rode my 350 to the enfield dealer in Stafford last year before its forced unroadworthiness ( rear tail light dropped off the rear mudguard leaving a large rusty hole where it once lived ) and it took about that amount of time but a nice run, only struggle was the climb out of ashbourne on the A515 which was a 40 mph drag in 3rd being overtaken by HGv's! As an alternative would a meet in bakewell followed by a ride round the snake pass be a suitable alternative at some point or a ride to the goyt valley near buxton.

A Bakewell meet would be fine for me. I'm happy to do a round trip of 100 miles or so in the day (but not with a full day at a bike show in the middle ;-) ).

Again, subject to work requirements, which get ever more unpredictable. I was told not to expect to work today so had planned personal stuff after a lazy start. Got a panic call from work at just after 8am telling me to go asap to Croydon and back via London (a nine part journey in all)! Got 28 miles down route on my commute on the M1 (normally 45 miles) only to get a call saying I wasn't needed. Muppetry. Just got home again. Roll on retirement!

we'll have to sort something then , As much as I find insurance as interesting as Brexit you cant really beat a 9-5 mon-fri job for planning your social life, tbh the show hasn't been a full day affair in about 10 years and ive never stopped past 3 pm, when i had my jap bike a ride to aberystwych and back just for a cup of tea (and im not joking ) was a regular affair and i may get something with a bit more range soon as i do miss the long trips.

Hi all a Bakewell meet would be good for me depending on the date. I can do some Sundays and also free some days in the week. Let me know what's happening and will endeavour to be there.

@Danse, yes good road and part of my commute but watch for gravel mid bend being dropped from the longcliffe quarry HGV's

There is a facebook group called "Royal Enfield Owners - North West England and North Wales". The admin Darren lives in Glossop and we regularly meet for group rides over the summer around the Peaks.

I will start a new thread for a Bakewell meet early May, will post a couple of dates up and see if we can get a consensus sorted.
