That mini-earthquake they caused* by fracking up at Blackpool rattled the windows for a good 10 seconds here down south.
Nice clean green geo-thermal energy to get hot water out of the ground also requires a form of fracking to fissure the rocks, the heat comes from uranium and thorium radioactive decay in the rocks. The wind farm generators have an enormous carbon footprint in manufacture, the carbon fibre they use is a spin off from our own nuclear industry. If we get rid of our high-tech industries and let someone else do it because it's cheaper, we lose the ability to do it; and so do a lot of foreigners because they're not developing new stuff, they're copying us. The chinese presumably offered a cheap tender to get our nuclear know-how because it is better than theirs (we develop a lot of this stuff in collaboration with the french). If we get rid of our 'nasty' high-tech industries we lose the ability to do the nice 'green' stuff, and we cannot develop new high-tech stuff without industries doing high-tech stuff, 20yo college kiddies are just university stupids, they don't have experience to develop squat. Welcome back to the stone age.
