I concur with Ric’s assessment of this issue, at least in cheap bikes like these. As nothing significant happened to my C5 I must be quids in overall and I know exactly what has been done to the bike and when. (I keep a notebook - when trading in a bike, this plus receipts for parts used etc has always satisfied the dealer). I wouldn’t risk it on, say, a Ducati, for which rightly or wrongly a dealer stamp is imperative. Like Ric says it’s all down to personal risk appetite or tolerance.

Rattlebattle, I would be grateful if you would explain the difference between a "warranty" and a "Guarantee."
I have just had to buy a car to replace my 4 year old Focus, stolen in a "Hanoi" burglary. It has a 3 month "Warranty." How does this differ from a guarantee? Thank you.

A stolen car is an insurance claim I would have thought.Definetly nothing to do with a warranty.
Warranty = repair
Guarantee = replacement/refund/repair.
