Thanks again Exile for the idea. I've now done mine, but used different pipe clips (the flexible plastic ones that 'pop' over the pipe with a single bolt fixing). That way my box clips on using the 4 plastic clips, is sturdily held whilst riding and gives me the option of either leaving it on or unclipping it when parked and taking it with me. It also stands about 5mm above the rack so no need for rubber insulation.

The only problem I encountered was the lid rattling when riding, so I glued some plastic tubing onto the top of the internal flange with silicone.

Ah, the plastic tube on the casing under the lid. Yep. I had to do that too but forgot to mention it.. Sorry.

I couldn't find clip-ons to mount the box on to the carrier but, admittedly, I did consider it. You use what you can find.
