Hi Presto. I think, for myself at least, a bike has to look attractive to me to get me interested in the first place. If, after that, it is a let down, so be it and I either don't buy it or it can go on its' way to someone else soon afterwards. Perhaps a bit like 'love at first sight', where this can't really happen with an ugly [to the beholder's eye at least] woman / man, no matter how caring or good in the kitchen etc they may be, first base doesn't happen in the first place, due to lack of initial attraction. One of few exceptions for me would be a Honda CD175 I bought over 30 years ago as a very cheap winter hack. It was pug ugly and I never cleaned it or gave it any fuss, yet it was one of the best bikes I have ever owned and I kept it for a couple of years, adding 18000 miles to the clock on winter / wet days. There was no initial attraction, other than it was about 50 quid, but it led me to the prettier CB175 soon afterwards, which actually disappointed me a little. Usually [for me at any rate] I have to like what I see before things go any further, where bikes are concerned at least - I have to behave where women are concerned these days! Cheers, Paul.
