That was the one useful thing they did do at the last rip off.

A SORN is now valid indefinitely until you tax the vehicle again.

(I would suggesting checking the Devious LA's site to be sure though.

From 16-12-2013 it will no longer be necessary to renew a SORN every year as long as you remain the owner of the vehicle. But if you sell a vehicle on a SORN, the new owner will need to register it to himself and declare his own SORN. The SORN does not pass from one keeper to another.

Phew - thats a relief ! Alan's post reminded me of the same - I have about 4 on SORN and have not had reminders either...

I bought a 1970 Bonnie a couple of years ago.It had been off the road for some time.I got it registered in my name then tried to SORN it.I couldn't do it on line because the website at DVLA said there was no record of it even though they had just issued me a new logbook. So,I tried the Post Office, their computer said NO!I gave up.
A week or so ago having received no reminder to SORN my Laverda I checked the DVLA site to see if I needed to renew my SORN which I now realize is not the case. However, this site has been renewed since I last looked so I had another go at SORNing the Triumph.Success!!. I then received an Email from DVLA telling me that I'd be hearing from them regarding my failure to SORN the Triumph and the attendant fine.
What the devil is going on???

Cheers guys--------- Actually that's about the only thing in all this DVLA paper chasing that actually makes any sense !!.................. So why wasn't it done this way to start off with ??......... Now all I've got to do is get my Classic 500 engine removed and take it to "He who whispers with a Bullet" for it's long-awaited new big end fitment.....

well back then, the DVLA was a public service.

now that is it more of a business, those handy reminders, well they cost a lot of money to print and send, so out they went, to be replaced by 'memory joggers' for their customers, like big fines if you forget insurance, SORN, vehicle tax, etc.

This may explain why they will sell your addresses, etc. to private companies at the drop of a hat.

I cannot believe the Deny Vacillate Lie Abuse would ever get anything wrong. Well, that is the OFFICIAL line from them. I am in the middle of an almighty bust up with them, you may see me in a court near you soon..... Waiting for some official and legal stuff, medical reports, etc. Let you know how it goes. best Regards Chris.

Hi Sheddy,

You might like to take a look at the link below. It seems that they even tried on more than one occasion to hide information from an Independent Complaints Assessor (lCA).

I saw this thread and stupidly ignored it until last night. It got me thinking about my trackbike that i brought last march. I kept waiting for a v11 reminder but it didnt come through. So i have checked today and it hasnt been taxed or sorned since january 2014. I have now sorned it as its a stripped down trackbike not road legal anymore. But i am left wondering what the fine is likely to be. Ed
