Not sure why the kickstart should be a problem Peter, they all used the same Albion gearbox mounted on the same center stand plates, identical mounting position

As said by Norm, the Indian engine will drop straight in the 1952 frame as long as you use the 1952 top gearbox mountings. Although you have discounted the swap I would have thought that clearance around the fairing and the primary chain case would probably be the most likely problem on a post 1956 engine, especially electric start versions.

And John, what an abomination that mount above the gearbox was, whoever designed that forgot to take his smart pills that day, at least the Indians realized how bad it was and redesigned it, not sure how long it took them to work out the fix and come up with the Indian frame as we know it
