I was in full Battle-Dress desert sand camo. !!!

Hey Alan, Seem to recall you have a B50
besides your B40. Have recently cleaned
up this B44, top end etc, and added a
choke to the bone stock Concentric. Good
spark, and timed as per factory manual.
Well aware of easing over compression w/
the valve lifter procedure but simply
cannot get it to run. I know these were
a pig to start from day one, but surely
not this bad. Loath to splurge on a Boyer
as prefer to see whether I fancy keeping
it in the spring first. Any tips or holy
water I need? Thanxs,

Gordon, you don't say if fuel is getting in there, is the plug wet after starting attempt? If not, try tipping a little fuel in the plug hole, stick plug in quick and see if that works. I had this problem on a Super Meteor once, (turned out to be a wrongly fitted inlet cam sprocket) and this trick allowed me to eliminate other causes. The 44 shouldn't be as bad as the B50!

Actually, Mark, on hindsight the plug
wasn't wet despite ample tickling and
Eezystart spray which doesn't get in
too well as carb throat is inaccessible.
Scary that all the tricks that were
second nature in our improvised youth
to get some motor mobile aren't
recalled as quickly as before. Way
back you poured a eggcup of fuel to
start pre-war cars you hand cranked.
Thanks, Mark, will give it another
shot when my leg is healed again

( and afford it, too !!)........So just WHO was it on Sunday PM then ????------- I thought it might be PALE RIDER and mate ?? ( Subtle, low-profile move by me to keep on-thread.. )
