Hi RIGGERS ---- (have been without Broadband for 4 days so just catching up)---- I'm in FULL agreement with ALL the postings on this subject. What a lucky lad !!... YES, of course you've done the right thing and that ride-out will be one of the key events in his memory for the rest of his life. Yes, the ladies do tend to be "protective"--bless them !! but quietly she's probably proud that her boy has all the signs of being a "good-'un". And well-done YOU !! Alas I don't have any family to take on such an adventure so much-enjoyed your accounts. OOppss--lump in the throat----bye for now.

Hi Gwilly - Thanks for being our armchair companion - it was good to have you along! The brakes worked well but to be honest I think taking an Enfield two up over Hardknott Pass was asking a bit too much. The problem wasn't so much with the bike but (as ever) was with the bloody awful standard of car drivers. The accepted curtesy of giving way to those coming UP a steep hill is these days just not upheld. As you know a TLS brake doesn't work at all backwards and trying to hold her on the back brake AND steady the bike was just too much - hence our little mishap. The rest of the time though everything was fine. Thanks for your comments too Alan R, and again to all contributors. You were all right in what you said, and I think William (my nephew) has also 'grown a bit', as he made this observation - "It's been so good Unc (that's me) but now I'm so tired! You'd think just sitting on a bike would be easy but it's not is it?". Don't we all just know it!!!!

Hi Riggers,It sounds like you both had an excellent time. I go to the lakes on my bullet every year with the VMCC IOM Branch. Why not bring your nephew to the Isle of Man some time and continue his education. Regards Steve M

Hey Steve, I'll be in the Isle of Man on Saturday and for the next two weeks for the Manx! but not with my nephew and not on the Bullet. I'll be on modern technology, and staying in 4 star comfort! Are you and IOManxman?

Hi Riggers, not Manx by birth but living over here. Hopefully I will have the Enfield ready for the MGP. I threw a push rod when I was last across. Steve M.
