Hi guys,

Have finally gotten myself a 2000 model bullet 350 classic.
Have been hankering after one of these for a good while now and happened across this one as an exchange for my ex MOD Armstrong MT500.
Swapped them over today and had a quick fire up and run up and down the road, need more petrol as it was down to the dregs but will be playing with it tomorrow and having a little clean and check around.

You're gonna love it mate, many of us here reckon the 350 is the sweetest motor. One simple tip to try - give it decent petrol. Mine is like two completely different bikes depending whether I fill up with cheapo supermarket unleaded or a good quality 97 octane super green. On my machine the difference is huge - yours of course might be different.

I've got probably one the last 350 Classics - a 2008 model, and I love it to bits!!

Prior to this, I used to have a 2004 500 Classic and I also agree that the 350 is a "sweeter" motor. It's certainly less vibey and the difference in performance is hardly woth commenting on.

You've made a great choice...enjoy!

Hi Mike and welcome. You will really enjoy the Classic, I took the plunge after many years of wondering "what if..." and have never seriously regretted it. I suspect the Armstrong will have provided some useful training, but the rest of the experience will be totally different. There is nothing on the road with the long stroke of the Bullet, its road manners are from another, more gracious age. Ride and enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome folks.
Have spent most of today fiddling and fettling and checking things over.
Had a quick run up and down the quiet little private road behind the house, and getting it ready to ride for it's MOT.
I'm enjoying it already, i've always liked the look and have fancied one for years, it's also one of the bikes my dad had the pelasure of in his riding youth, (albeit a Brit built 50's model), i'm lookinf forward to calling him and telling him about it, he'll either be delighted or very amused and get me a set of AF spanners to accompany my metric toolkit out of sympathy,
I have a few observations and also questions but i'll post a seperate thread in the tech bit.

I have Kept my Std 350 for many years Whilst often Having and selling a 500 (& Others) but as Stated the 350 is the Best Enfield by far.

Hello there matey and "welcome aboard"----------Interesting Handle; anything to do with Mk1 railway carriages ?? At age 63 I'm now selling-up all my jap do-dahs and have just bought a 2nd Classic 500 Bullet (from a gentleman on this forum--see Bike Sales)and rode it 150 miles from Farnborough, Hants to Telford, Shrops. this Saturday. My No1 tip for a new owner ??------ Change the eng. oil filter each time you change the eng. oil ( they're cheap enough after all)--- it's not worth trying to clean it and you might end-up dislodging particles that go straight back into the oil system. I keep my next filter already pre-soaking in 20/50 mineral oil all the time and buy them in bulk at shows, e-bay etc. Be-seeing you ---- Alan R

I'd have happily gone for that if I hadn't happened across the swap for the 350 I got instead. It sounds very nice.

Been looking through the Hitchcocks catalogue I got with it for all the goodies and some service bits i'll need as I go along.
The user name BTW is simply the first name I could get when I joined AOL years ago, I then stuck with it as a forum name because it's short and snappy and makes logins easier.

So, nothing to do with railways, sorry, (I do have my dads old Hornby 0 guage?, big wide metal tracks with a central runner, in the shed, intend to find a transformer for that one day and get it chugging away.

Hi MIKE }-------- yes, that was the bike in question. I've just ordered some spares from our hosts to give it a basic service ( I always do that in conjunction with the MoT so it's a handy way to remember ). If you intend to be riding mostly solo then you will find the 350 IS the better of the two IMHO. I have a pair of 500's because from time-to-time 'er indoors will add some traction to the back wheel !!!!!
