Still best to check regularly, in case of stray cracks. The XT500 rubber flange used when I fitted a TM36-31 to my old Electra (having experimented with a W-S Dell'Orto alloy flange) LOOKED robust enough...
To be fair that carb is a fair old lump, it only just fitted under the tank rear mounts. Possibly that's why - apart from the 36mm size - I haven't seen them on any other Bullets, though they're popular with SR500 and XT500 owners, at least over in Germany.
