Hi
I'm new to RE's , have got a Electra x to use for the next couple of weeks , so far seems great
When I leave bike overnight should I turn the fuel tap to the off position ?
thanks

The advice I was given by the dealer was to always turn the fuel tap off when leaving the bike. I guess this is to prevent possible fuel leakage caused by a stuck carb float, or a hydraulic lock and subsequent engine damage if fuel should seep into the engine through an open inlet valve. The latter is something I believe was a problem with bikes with faulty vacuum operated fuel taps.

thanks for the replies
I have the bullet as a loaner while my bike is off the road , really warming to it , will see how things go over the next 2 weeks and approx 500 miles

Just went for a 50 mile spin round the lanes
The trip meter overeads quite a bit a known 50 mile trip is being tripped at 69 miles
The bike purrs @ 50 mph and pulled up a long steep hill no problem @ 50 mph
Does not really like dual caridgeway , could hold 60 mph and one quick blip up to 70 mph , however a lot happier on the back lanes @ 50 - 55 mph which I guess is what these bikes are designed for
Really lovey ride and now really chilled out
Also noticed a lot more countryside at 50 mph
Cheers Steve
