hi i have purchased a 4 speed albion gearbox at a auto jumble for the aim of using as a spare for my 1986 350 enfield.

my problem is that i have taken the front cover off to find there is no hole in the clutch cap cover (111168) for a clutch pushrod ?

also the gearbox has the following markings on top of the gearbox case AA6 256 and stamped 4741 on the gearbox casing , does anyone an idea of the year and gearbox type ?

There are far more knowledgeable people than me on here, but could that be for the scissor clutch models?

Is there a hole through the middle of the mainshaft? If not, as above, it's probably off a scissor clutch model.

Not the end of the world because it's probably worth a similar amount to a second hand Indian one if you find the right buyer.

I had one on a bike I bought with a scissor clutch and meteor minor gearbox (badly) bodged onto an indian bullet. I dimly recall there being enough of a difference between gearboxes that you couldn't simply fit a hollow mainshaft to the older gearbox but others will know more.

I bunged that gearbox on ebay and it eventually sold for roughly what I paid for a used Indian 4-speed.
