Whining in the primary drive case.

Its the Crusader 250 again. Running well but a good whining in the primary case. I am assuming this is a tight chain? Do they make those noises?

Yes, well bullets do. On the odd occasion when I’ve set my tensioner too tight there’s been a very audible wine.

On my bullet, if you listen carefully, you can also make out a slight whirring/whine from the alternator, which gets louder when you put the lights on. If the gap between the rotor and stator isn't set correctly, it gets much more noticeable, to the point of being intrusive.

Not normal, although I'm surprised you can hear anything above the racket the valve train makes!

Did you find anything when you took the primary cover off?
