That was the relocation of the original swinging arm I was referring to, and the to be honest the thing looks really naff, the angle of the shock absorbers seems all wrong. Simply fitting a slimmer set of mudguards front and rear and a less clunky seat would have done, but that's the bobber cult. To his credit the owner mentions that he has kept all the original parts to put it back to standard, some wisdom there still.

You could always buy a second hand Indian Bullet swinging arm and get some extended axle mounting plates welded on (keeping the lower shock absorber mounts where they are) if Interceptor-style swinging arm lengthening is a must, or investigate singleminded's suggestion of finding a donor swinging arm off a totally different bike.

What you could even do is track down an Interceptor frame and swinging arm, or late Redditch Bullet/Constellation/Super Meteor frame and Interceptor swinging arm, the Indian Bullet engine and gearbox will bolt straight in with the correct parts. Something with a V5C will save registration hassles.

Feel free to express a contrary opinion!

This is one i did some time ago to lengthen the bike to a proportion I felt better suited the Bullet.
The swing arm was cut, full length chromemoly tube was welded inside, and then the outside diameter was restored with the same material but in the standard diameter, again welded in place. Once ground, filled, and painted, the arm looks original, but is multiple times stronger than the factory piece.
Longer Hagon shocks were added, as well as the required chain length. The guards were then mounted to the swing arm to clean up their aesthetic.

Hmm... a second-hand Interceptor frame with a V5c.
Put me down for ten of those.... :D
Just form an orderly queue, I'm sure there was a crate of them around here somewhere. :P

Back to reality, our hosts DO occasionally sell late Redditch heavyweight frames with V5s (an Interceptor swinging arm would fit any of those), I have bought a couple off them. Failing that, a frame without a current registration could still make the basis of a good Q-plate special.

Thanks Hunter- cool bike you have there.
Yep, I do my own work, though on cars mostly- the bike is a side project for me. Simpler and less costly.
I'm in Western Australia, but have purchased the majority of parts from our UK Host.

Paul

*specialist machining/welding for jobs I don't have the equipment for is done by a group of us who swap skills- I'll do this, you do that.
