I had a Honda XL 250 single, and I could not get it started for love or money. I nearly sold it in sheer exasperation. A blocked pilot jet was a large part of the problem, plus a bad float needle. However even with these sorted it was still a bastard to start ( no decompressor, too). Eventually I discovered that it needed a bit of throttle, it just would not start on tickover, (unlike the Enfield)
