Phillips Mostovision bulb and charging

Following a minor accident, I recently fitted a new Phillips Motovision bulb and the the associated Neolite lens. The light is great, but the alternator only seems to keep up with the current drain when I'm running at about 50mph or more. It seems to me that I have four options:
1. return to the old-type bulb, but sacrifice the nice light level of the Phillips;
2. fit the high output alternator available from our hosts - but this is a costly option;
3. fit a Boyer Powerbox, which may increase the effective output from the alternator - but I don't know if this is true, and it is still reasonably expensive;
4. fit a LED stop/tail bulb, which will reduce the demand when the headlight is on - a relatively chap option, but again I don't know if it will work.
Any suggestions, advice or experience would be gratefully received.
