Royal Enfield 500 electra x engine clatter

Hi folks first ride to mot centre on my recently acquired Enfield which it passed happy days. . I runs fine apart from a clatter which is annoying it quietens down when you throttle off. Any suggestions please.

Check the primary chain, if it needs tightening the adjuster bolt head can clatter against the outer primary case. Also you might have a bit of rattle from the cam gears, the spindles on the Electra-X are adjustable to take up some of the slack.

Have you checked the primary chain adjustment? Also the rubber padded adjuster bolt from our host will help reduce noise.

Well I have sorted the clatter from my electra x 500, the thrust slave washer had gone so was causing play in the inlet cam/ rocker. Both have been replaced and the bike is running sweet now. Once again I would like to say thanks to all for their advice and support it has been very much appreciated indeed. Happy biking and ride safe
