Removing decompressor cable engine end

I have managed to remove the cylinder head from 1955 G2 350 Bullet. I am struggling to free off the decompressor cable. Should I unscrew from underneath or manoeuvre the cable between the spring?

There is a little metal cap on top of the spring that looks like a crown cork bottle cap with a slot cut in it. Use a flat blade screwdriver to pull the spring down and slide the cap out. This will allow the spring to be pulled back up along the cable and you'll be able to back-off and detach the nipple.

Never be tempted to remove the split pin with the head fitted unless you like fishing about down sparkplug holes with magnets to remove decompressor vaslves from inside your engine (don't ask me how I know!).

Perfect. I was about to write in and ask the same question.
Thanks, Chris

Thanks for the information. I left cable in place in the end.
