Dodgy Spark Plugs

I am fixing my van but this applies to buying for bikes also. I live a little drive away from shops - sometimes it is easier to order online rather than fight my way through traffic to the shops.
I need to order some spark plug and have been told that some counterfeit/dodgy spark plugs are out there, how common is this? There does seem to be a big price difference is some plugs which leads me to think perhaps the cheaper branded ones should be avoided? Any advice most welcome.

There have been fake NGK plugs released onto the market, I wouldn't be surprised if other makes had been targetted. Perhaps order from a well established spark plug specialist. Our hosts should be fine for RE bikes' plugs.
