Wet sumping

I have a 1955 G2 to fix but don't have time to do so for a few weeks. What sort of period of time would a bike need to stand unused to suffer wet sumping and is there anything action which may prevent wet sumping?

If the engine is going to wet sump it will often do it overnight.
It may help to avoid wet sumping if you only top-up engine oil to the mid-way mark on the dipstick. And when leaving the bike standing make sure the piston is at the top of its stroke. This lifts the big-end above the normal oil level in the oil tank and helps prevent oil leaking by gravity through the big-end.

You could leave it until just before you run the bike and simply drain what's run into the sump, then pour it back into the tank. No need to drain the lot.
