Can we sticky this?

30mA will drain a 12Ah battery in 16.6 days.
The video is proof of the issue.

It means the stock batteries aren't really the problem. Any lead acid will hate being discharged repeatedly, so it you only joyride your bike once per month, you'll be replacing batteries once per year and jump/bump starting every month.

Real solution will be to get a cheap solid state mosfet regulator and check for leakage.
Alternatively, a cheaper but messier option is to put a relay in so the regulator is only connected when the ignition is on.

So I finally got the day off when I can do something. Out came the soldering iron and some male and female spade connectors to make six adaptor wires to connect a honda reg/rec . Getting the standard regulator outs a bit tricky, the main connection from the generator is a tyco connector. I'd never seen one before. Its got a large red locking slide .You push back two little locking legs and pull the slide up.
So all connected and as the video shows it worked a treat . I knew I was right all along . Back to Bike Treads in Swindon then . I wonder if all the Enfield reg/recs are like this ?

Proof. ! As if I needed any . Told my dealer that I feel that I have an electric vehicle the amount of times that I plug it in .
Interestingly the workshop manual doesn't specify a reverse check . No other maker does that as its really important.
They are going to forward my findings to Enfield.

Thank you for a very informative post. Just in case anyone missed it, I found my bike suffered battery drain when parked on the side stand, and also if left in gear. Purely because I honestly couldn't be bothered tracing the fault, I fitted an Isolator switch so if the bike was not in use for any more than a couple of days, then I switched everything off. Problem (as far as I was concerned) solved.
