Hi, in a word no, redditch use imperial bearings and the timing side bearing runs directly on the crank. Having said that I do have a redditch engine where the cases have been remachined to accept a metric bearings ang crank. Vince

Hi, I obtained this bike complete and while stripping it found it was fitted with metric crank. Yes the bearings/crank as per india version. Vince . Ps one advantage is you dont have the wear/replacement on the timing side shaft.

I think that you are heading into a whole World of pain here - my advice would be to look out for a Redditch bottom half engine - there are loads around and its going to make your rebuild so much easier...

Our hosts do a timing side needle roller conversion for Redditch bullet cranks that runs on an inner race on the shaft. I fitted one to my Bighead when I rebuilt it, think it was only 30 odd quid. Much better than the original bearings running directly on the shaft.
When I stripped my engine someone had opened up the timing side housing and fitted a metric bearing, but to my horror I found the housing was cracked. I tried to source a replacement casings but couldn't find any at the time so ended up converting a set of good 350 cases to 500cc.
There is or was sets of both Redditch and Indian cases for sale on here.
