RE Sixty 5 Side stand catches on Centre stand

Hi. Just bought my first RE since I started driving 50 years ago. Picked up a very low mileage (98.7 miles!!) 2004 Sixty 5. Genuine mileage, never used, every nut and bolt shiny and new. Just some perished rubber items that I've replaced. Runs sweetly. Dead pleased with it. Just getting my head around some of the idiosyncrasies.
One such oddity is that the side stand does not fold up fully because it clouts the centre stand. I need to put the centre stand down a couple of inches to allow the side stand to retract fully and operating its switch. Caught me out on the first ride out and took some head scratching to find out why the bike wouldn't start! Anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on a cure?

Mine is also a 2004 sixty five. I don't have a switch on my sidestand at all. I don't know if the switch is standard or not.
It may have been an aftermarket fit and a bit bodged?

mine is different, that stand to me looks like it is not designed for the bike, a lot of metal around the hinged part

Although a different model, my Bullet had the side stand fitted at the front. Perhaps you could move yours there.

However - I can only start it in neutral. Not in any gear with clutch in.

Is that normal behaviour with such a bypass dongle?
