Has anyone set the valve clearances on their Himalayan? Do I need to get this done by the dealer or is it a relatively easy job?
Thanks Rob

Hi Rob, its a really straight forward job to do on these bikes. Just take the seat off, unbolt the tank (no fairing or plastics to worry about), unbolt the air injection solenoid out the way and then unbolt the two small covers off the top of the valve cover to gain access to the valve adjusters (these are just locked in place with a lock nut).

Make sure you adjust this only when the rocker arms are off the lobe of the cam, the easiest way to confirm this is to remove the inspection plug on the left hand side of the engine to line up the "T" mark on the rotor for TDC, then set the clearances. (Take the spark plug out to make it easier to turn the engine over by hand)

Our hosts now have a great tool to aid setting the tappets dead on - see part number 60534.
