Hi

Can anybody tell me if the swinging arm off a 2008 Enfield thunderbird 350 will fit a 97 lightning 535?
Is there any difference between them?

I believe it would but can't guarantee it, as long as it is from a pre unit construction it should fit.

That depends on exactly which model of Thunderbird you mean, 2008 was very close to (if not the actual) changeover between the pre-unit AVL model and the UCE versions where they flipped the back wheel over for the right-hand rear chain run.



If it's the older model Thunderbird the swinging arm ought to be a direct swap, but so will the swinging any from any other pre-2008 Indian Bullet with the full width Q/D rear wheel. No need to rob the Thunderbird.

Hi Adrian, it is just not the flip over of the swing arm, from memory the swing arm is longer to compensate for the shorter motor/box combination so they could keep the same wheel base

Also the factory went for plastic swinging arm bushes instead of the metalastic bonded rubber ones used before. This has opened up another revenue stream for our hosts selling extras of the earlier ones to EFI/UCE owners as a less wear-prone retrofit.



The pre-2008 Indian Bullet swinging arms are also useful if your late Redditch-framed Bullet project hasn't got the original, they fit and line-up pretty well with an Interceptor spindle, end nuts, thrust washers and a couple of spacers, just needs a bit of care and some minor modifications when fitting the shock absorbers, allowing easy fitment of Indian rear wheels and an unlimited supply of Indian rear brake drums...

The swinging arm chain run is on the left just like mine.

Might check the dimensions to see if it is longer as Norm suggested
